I have a 2001 Acura 3.2TL. For some reason, the stereo security system kicked on when I pressed the power button on the stereo. It's like the system thought my battery was disconnected for some reason.
I called the dealer for a 5 digit security code that my manual said to retrieve. They said I have to provide the vehicle VIN# (which I have) and the stereo serial#, which would require taking the stereo completely out of the dash (if it in fact has the # stamped on it).
The dealer also said that a sticker should be located inside either the glove box or the trunk, neither of which are there.
To make matters worse, after fumbling around with the code (trying to figure it out myself) for 10 tries, the stereo just locked up on me.
Can anyone give me the code and the procedures for resetting and re-enabling the stereo? I drive to work in stop 'n go traffic every day and it's getting pretty annoying without music... Please help!!!

I know gm radios have a "burn in" time of 1 hour. which means you have 3 tries, after that it goes into LOC mode which means you have to leave it powered up for at least an hour before trying the code again. Best I can say is to try that, then just unlock it that way. As far as your barcode im not sure I have only unlocked civic and accords which are simple.

If you disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, it will reset. To get your serial number, pull off your woodgrain trim that runs up the center console and radio on the right side. Just open the back center console and pull up on the trim peice. the serial number should be a visible white sticker on the side of the radio. About 90% of the TL radios have this sticker. if it doesent, you vave to pull the radio.
