Loud Engine

I am having problems with my engine being extremely loud. First off it was my fan cluth and that fixed alot of the engine being loud but now it sounds like something is really loud coming from under the car. Someone told me that maybe I had a exhuast leak and we check and nothing looks to be leaking. Someone said that my muffler might be worn out. Is that possible?

Any other suggestions?

If the noise seems at the engine and you are leaning towards an exaust leak check the exaust flange gaskets...use a piece of hose and watch for moving parts, place one end of the hose near your ear and "probe" the area in ? with the other end, good luck...

You can't judge whether a exhaust is leaking by looking at it.

Get under the truck and feel for the leak.

Also, you cat might be shot.

I had to replace the water pump about 1.5 years ago and ever since then it gets LOUD. But it is not constant. Mine was constantly loud for about 1 month now it is just random. It can run quiet like it should for a whole day, but the next day when I come out to start it up in the morning, it is loud again. It just stops being loud randomly and randomly starts up again. I can't tell what it is  but it has not caused any mechanical problems.
