my transmission, is making a whineing noise, i just had the clutch and all that junk replaced...still doing it though, my mechanic said that i was low on tranny fluid and thinks that may have caused the whine noise, anyone have any thought....it is a 98 s-10 5 speed

in every gear? cuz i know on just about all the newer ones ive driven , they all whine a bit , specially in 1st gear , infact alot of trans's whine in theier lower gears , if it still whines in 4th gear tho , that could be something gone bad , like a bearing maybe , other then that tho , sometimes theyll gradually whine louder and louder as the get older , but itll only get so loud

Check the oil.

There is a good chance that they drained it to replace the clutch, and just filled it with regular 80-90 oil.

I believe that it should take ATF fluid, but check your owners manual first.

ATF fluid is usually thin and red.
And 80-90 is dark, thick and stinks

Check it yourself, it isn't that hard and then you'll know who's responsible if there's any damage.

If it happened it's a simple honest mistake, so don't be mad at them.

they checked the tranny fluid and added Sycromexh, which is what the book said to add and oriellys said to add, he said that it looked like it had been leaking for a while, as for the whineing noise we thought it was the pilot bearing that was going out, and its been doing it for a couple months now, and i figured that it would stop when i got all the clutch assembly replaced and it didnt, any ideas?
