1982 911 SC blowing smoke when started?

Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a 1982 911SC with 90000 original miles. The car seems to run great with the exception that when you start it, it blow a big cloud of smoke and when I am idiling it wither idels at 2000 rpms or it just dies. Would anyone know what might be causing this?

the smoke is probably burning off oil

The idle problem may be caused by a cracked air box.
