Can someone please help me, I have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee XJ Laredo which is in pretty rough shape but working on it. Anyway, when I got it it had no radio in it & 14 multi colored wires hanging out of the dash. In order to hook up something else I need to know where these go or how they hook up. I have not been able to find anyone that knows. The Jeep originally had an Electronic Tune AM/FM Cassette w/Accusound speaker system. All speakers were blown out w/paper missing. Will basic 5¼ 4ohm 2 way speakers work in their place? Wires are as follows : Pink, Dark Blue/white stripe & Purple w/orange stripe, All hot when key is on. White w/blk stripe, Orange w/blk stripe, Dk Brown, Gray, 2 Blk wires, Green, Green w/white stripe, White, Black w/white stripe, Black w/orange stripe. ANY help with these would be greatly appreciated.

I'm at work right now, but I have an '89 I just put a new stereo in. I'll post the pin-out and color chart when I get home. I snuck some 6 1/2 3-ways in the back and 5 1/4 2-ways in the front with no problems.

I'm glad to hear that the speakers I have (took out of a 85 Olds delta 88 I was junkin) will work OK. As far as the wiring goes, there are no plugs on anything. The guy butchered it up pretty good. This jeep has been used, abused, rode hard & put away wet. Rolled twice & left in river for 2 mos. til they could find a wrecker big enough to pull it out. :disappoin He had taps on every wire so I don't understand why he had to cut the plugs off. Some of them I can figure out, the others I don't have a clue because the ones in the dash for the most part don't match the color at the speaker positions. All seem to be OEM wiring though. Any pics or diagrams or pics would be greatly appreciated. Any help at all would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Still running strong though w/262,000 on 4.0 ltr 6. Use as full time driver & part time toy. Hopefully she will let you.

I greatly appreciate the help with this. I have a 1988 manual in PDF that helps some, but it does not show any of this wiring & I couldn't identify some of the wires. Sorry it took so long to get back to you, am an OTR driver & gone quite a bit. Looks like be a cinch now. Thanks again from TN :grinyes: :lol2:
