can i slided a new mp3/cd play into the old spot without any mods

You can if you like playing with wires tryin to figure out which does what, but my advice would be to go to the car audio store in your town and buy a wiring harness for the make/model of the car. Then its all color matching up from there.. they're only 20 bucks canadian at the most
