vented sub box

I have a mtx BS212V vented bass slammer enclosure. It has one big vent in the center of the box, both subs go into the same vent. Shouldn't there be a wall dividing it into two vents? Or does it not matter? I have two audiobahn aw125t's in there (12's, dual 4 ohm voice coils, 400 watt rms each). I can't get them to sound right, making a weird noise, hard to describe. Amp is a JL 500/1, and head unit is sony xplod, don't know if my settings are wrong or what. Already blown one sub since I got the MTX box, gain on the amp was at 13, it's at 1 now.

Well, I stopped selling 'Bahn because of quality issues. I don't know if that's what you got going on there. Also, I never sell/install subs in a pre-fab box(again, not sure if that's what you have). No, you don't always need to have each sub in it's own chamber. Double check to make sure you have the subs wired correctly especially each coil terminal. Meter the wires to see what Ohm load your at. If all that checks out, you might have the crossover(if your amp has one) adjusted wrong or might be the box design. You have to be carefull on building/buying a box. You have to match the box to the subs and car. If the port is incorrectly done, you can have port noise.
