so mars volta concert last night (tuesday the 17th)

I've been following the tour since it first began

the setlist for every single show included roulette dares, drunkship, take the veil, cygnus, the widow, l'via, concertina, and always ended with cassandra geminni.

I wanted to go to both shows (monday's and tuesday's) but I couldn't make it so I opted to go to tuesday's (last show in town)

so I go, get up close. the stage is covered by an enormous banner of the 'spiderlady' picture, really cool.

a little after 7, the 'fistful of dollars' theme song starts playing and then the banner raises up and there's the band. wow, what a sight. the backdrop is of 2 images, the 'footstab' picture with the birdman, and then that same image reversed. then there's tons of lights and whatnot. it's a very cool stage.

they start off with drunkship, go into a 20 minute jam, then end the song. from there they went to take the veil, then cygnus, then the widow, concertina, l'via, and roulette dares. all were fantastic, everyone was on, cedric was hitting all those notes. mindblowing experience.

so roulette dares is coming to a close. I was preparing myself for cassandra, I was all ready. just as the song is ending, I see juan and omar talking. then omar runs over to cedric and says something. at the time I didn't pay much attention, but I soon came to realize how important that little chat was.

they ended the show with roulette dares.

yep. no cassandra. only an hour and 45 minute show compared to every other show on the tour that was 2 and a half hours long.

cedric just says some stuff to the crowd, they all walk off, and the house lights come on.

i was dead inside at that moment.

so upset.

but I am grateful for what I did get to see, fucking spectacular show. the highlights would definitly be roulette dares, take the veil, and concertina.

Kenny Chesney will always be my #1 Kenny

And don't worry, I'll be getting tickets for when they tour with System of a Down, in hopes that they'll play Cassandra.

One day you will realise the error of your ways and listen to cheesy 80's music. Just you wait.

Yeah, I guess I am really grateful for getting the chance to go at all.

Of course, even if the Chicago show had sold out, I would have shelled out the $80 for a ticket. They are definitly my favorite band

Looks like you Chicago boys didn't show enough love so they left! :p

I'm gonna see them on June 4 in Los Angeles so we'll see how that goes. :ylsuper:
