636 transmission diffult to shift into 3rd

I have a '95 626 which has been giving me some transmission trouble. It shifts perfectly into all gears but third. Shifting into third results in a slight "catch" or "grind." It is especially apparant when shifting quickly, and when downshifting.

Any Ideas as to the cause? Could a clutch adjustment do the trick?
