Hello guys,

First time i'm using this airbrush... i dont have instructions and i'm afraid to disassemble it without exact knowledge i would like to ask for your help with cleaning the needle inside.
Thanks a bunch, Roy

p.s. I looked in testors site but nada!

I just tear it apart and use a tiny piece of cloth to clean out the nozzle and just a rag to clean the needle. Take care not to push the needle back in to hard as it could damage the nozzle. With the spring it's only four parts in every nose piece.

Do not disassemble the tip. Put a jar of lacquer thinner on your Aztek and run it thru the tip after you finish painting or when you change colors. If necessary, you can soak the tip in lacquer thinner.

My 470 is about 5 years old and is still working as it should even after I teared all of the nozzles apart for cleaning quite some times now. No matter how thorough I clean it with different solvents there is always a little left in the needle assembly, that's why I take it apart now and then for cleaning.

The instructions tell you not to take it apart but I do all the time. Soaking them in lacquer thinner, like Marc says, is the best way to clean them. Make sure it's real thinner, like the $4 a gallon stuff at Home Depot. The $8 a pint Testors thinner won't clean it well enough.

I also tear the needle apart without any problem. You just have to be very careful with it because it is very fragile. I also advise you to put the nozzle in an old Tamiya jare full of acetone. You close it and shake it a couple of seconds !

I'm with proosen and 008 on this SO LONG AS WE"RE talking about the nozzle and not the main body (if you open that, I think you lose your lifetime guarantee).

Also, "tearing" apart is the wrong verb :) I think "carefully dismantling" would be more appropriate.

I clean my A430 this way: First pull out the white needle casement from the main nozzle body and then use tweezers to pull the needle out. Swill it all around in Valejo AB cleaner (excellent stuff) and clean the spring with a toothbrush soaked in cleaner. Syringe out the inside of the needle casement (thinned toothpick to get out stubborn stuff) and put it back together again or leave it soaking...

I actually use all of them apart from the splatter nozzle. mostly grey white and tan though

Tan and grey is the two I use for most of my painting, sometime I go for the light blue or red one but that's not very often.
