Hello everyone! I have a 2001 Ram Sport Extended Cab and last night I splurged and bought a sweet MTX amp and subs, and I'm about halfway through the install. I've got the power all hooked up to the amp and I'm about to rip off my dash and I need to know if the factory stereo head unit has preamp outputs on it or not. I have the Infinity Factory System with CD and Cassette players, if it does not I would like to know a good, inexpensive head unit I could purchase with preamps. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i haven't found any factory stereos that have rca jacks on them. as far as a good head unit it's pretty much your taste. i have a $100 JVC that rocks. someone else might like pioneer, keenwood, ect. just remember to get instalation kit with mounting bracket and wiring pigtail. makes it so much easier and looks good too.

I know most factory stereo's don't have rca jacks on them, but I was told that since it's the Infinity Factory system that it might, I need someone that has actually seen the back of one of these head units to answer this question. Not to be rude, but this is a very specific question.

Okay, thanks.
New Question: Is there any detailed instructions for removing the factory head unit. I don't want to rip the entire dash off. I'm trying to do everything myself and some instructions would be nice. Since I need to replace the head unit, and I don't want it to be too painful.

All right, Last night I got everything installed and it sounds amazing! I ended up getting a Tsunami RCA Line Output Converter from Circuit City and hard wiring it to the wires coming off the back of the factory head unit, it was amazingly painless and sounds amazingly wonderful, all things considered. Thanks everyone for all your help and pointing me in the right direction. Rock on!

I know, I'm late to the game. You know, when ever you go to change the head unit, it will sound even better! The main reason is the bass responce and the fact the OEM unit turns down the bass the louder you turn it up.
