Headlight Out...

How Do I Replace The Headlight On My 96 Firebird? The Brights Still Work Just The Regular Light Is Out. Any Feedback Is Much Appreciated!

Raise the headlight, either by turning your headlight switch all the way to the right and then back to the middle position, or do it manually with the knob under the round rubber cover on top of each headlight motor. There are 4 philips head screws, 2 on each side, that hold the black plastic headlight cowling on. Remove them and the cowling. There are 4 philips head screws, two on the top, two on the bottom, around the front of the headlight glass. Take them out. Careful, don't take out the Torx (star-head) screws, as those are used to aim the light. Remove the metal retaining frame. The headlight bulb will come out through the front. You should have a plastic connector with 3 wires going into it that hooks up to the rear of the bulb. Disconnect that from the bulb element, and twist/pull the element out of the headlight. You should only have to replace that part at the auto parts store. Sometimes the wires come loose because of the up/down motion of the headlights. Try cleaning the terminals on the bulb element before you buy a new one.

My left headlights low beam would constantly burn out, like once every 3 months. I got tired of it and bought those conversion lights off eBay that let you use those tiny Xenon blue bulbs instead. They look awesome at night, and have lasted for a long time now. And the best thing about it was that the conversion kit cost the same amount as those Sylvania lights. Only about $40.

Well, $40 if you were to buy 2 bulbs, that is.
