what intake mainfolds

Are all intake mainfolds the same? I am looking on ebay and seeing a skunk2 intake for 240$ then see a blox intake for 179$. they both say they add 7-10 hp 2 questions i ask ONE are all intake mainfolds the same? should i buy top of the line like skunk2 or eddlebrock or get cheap blox or nonname brand. i only ask cause i know that most CAI's are the same so i ask this for intakes mainfolds.

TWO how much HP can i expect to get from any or all intake mainfolds and from what brand. thanks ahead of time for all replys.

From what I understand, intake manifolds only make power after 8 or 9k in revs... so if you aren't going to be revving past there, then they are essentially useless. I don't know if the brands make a difference.

when chosing an intake mani things like powerband do come into play as brought up, yet the skunk2 and blox are both just improved ITR manis. If you want really top end only things like venoms or JG.

before you do this what motor do you have and any other work?

I do not reccomend stuffing any intake mani on a stock GSR due to loss of mid range, I have itr cams in mine and i'm not even sure how bad the loss would be but i do plan on upgrading to a blox or probbly ABES being they are both better then the ITR and skunk2. I possilbly will just save up for Endynes its a pretty penny but from whats been said about it works better then ITBS with none of the downsides.

Yeah, i have a skunk2 and the only thing it did was put a bigger hole in my pocket. If you are gonna go turbo the cool get it, if not don't even worry about it.

The I/M is usless unless you will be turboing, then get one. Other then that they don't do shit. You will have loss of tq and mybe just maybe get a hp or 2.

any amount of motor work N/A too will make it usefull. As I said in this post my ITR cams might be enough to warrent one stilll looking up.

not just for boosting.

I still feel that they are not worth shit. I felt nothing when putting it on, other than a little more top end, But very little. And with it being an LS I only felt it closer to red line and you know that's not much. I guess with cams that would help a little, but the reson for a bigger IM is to get more air in the motor, having a turbo is really gonna help that. I did notice even when i put my headers on that it felt like I had lost even more TQ, but the motor was more responsive. (owell) just my :2cents: :rolleyes:

Do you enjoy putting up B/S info or what? honestly cause you made a mistake buying a mod that means the mod is bad? The word user error comes to mind.

The closest to any worth in your posts was the fact the Honda OEM intake manis flow quite well and don't need to be swapped. We all agree on this no? Now you make a blanket statement that upgrading a cars intake manifold is a silly mod and that is just untrue.

Both a turbo or an agressive N/A build *past I/H/E* would love a bigger intake mani.
