Once again, I turn to the forum for help with my mechanical gremlins. My '97 k1500 'burb has fuel problems. I get the fuel pump noise when key turned on, but no starting. By spraying carb cleaner into TB it will start and run for a couple seconds. No fuel, right? I have been told to check fuel pump relay...Where the hell is it? I have found a fuse labeled fuel pump relay, but is there something else? I would much rather replace an $11.00 relay than a $90.00 pump, how do I know which is faulty? My Chiltons is very vague about where teh relay is, I know it's on the drivers side of bay, and has a green/white wire coming out, but I can't find it.
thanks in advance,
Chris

The relay should be located in the under hood fuse and relay box. Take the cover off and look for a diagram in the cover for locations. You say that you hear the fuel pump run when the key is turned on. It should run for a couple of seconds and turn off. It needs an rpm signal for it to run continously (sp). Sounds to me more like a pressure problem or a lack of signal to the injectors. How about the filter?? Try this, turn the key on till the pump stops running. Do this 5 or 6 times in a row and then try to start. Also check fuel pressure with a guage (60-66 psi).
