airbag light stays on

JUst today (May 17) I bought a 2001 Dodge Caravan. Seems like a good vehicle but the airbag light is staying on. The manual says it should be looked at as soon as possible. Is that something that has the potential to be a major problem??

if your airbag light is constantly on, it means there's a serious fault in your SRS system and your airbags could NOT deploy in an accident. Get that checked out ASAP.

In fact........now i find that the light has started towork properly....so obviously the "malfunction" is hit and miss.
Any suggestions, anyone?????

I'd still strongly suggest that you get that looked at. It could a variety of things, a bad clockspring, airbag module, etc. Get that looked at by a dealer who can access the SRS system.

My van was checked and the culprit is a sender of some sort in the seat belt assembly. The part is in and the repair will be made early next week.

it will erase codes after 100 key cycles if no trouble is found. Why did it start to begin with???? example is if someone disconnected a seat belt part etc. if it doesnt return dont worry
