Wow, you just coudln't wait to get out of the driveway could ya?! LOL. Seriously though, it could be a sticking needle on the speedometer. How old is the car and has the problem ceased?

Yeah, sometimes on older rides, the needle will stick, a quick thump on the faceplate usually puts it back into place.

it's a 99 grand am gt.

I noticed it went from 2 to 90 then it kicked back down within a second or two. that is the first time that has ever happened and it hasnt done it since.

Your 99 should be the same as my 2000. When you start the car, the tach and speedometer immediately flip to the right(MAX) and then come back down. It could be that the speedo. side just got stuck for some reason. I have noticed on my own car that opposed to moving freely in the past, when I start him up, the needle on the speedo. side doesn't move as freely as it used to. It kind of hesitates maybe around 80-100 for a fraction of a second, and then goes back down. Just a thought as to the reason for your "phenomenon."

I realize the all the needles go to max when the car if first started..
but this happened when the car was running after 5 minutes.
I watched the speedo needle go from 0 to 90 in less than 2 seconds then it shot back down to normal.

(the fastest car in the world) :iceslolan

This could have been just a minor glitch in the system.
