The butterfly valve that controls the amount of air that is ingested into the engine by opening and closing. Controled by either a throttle cable that attaches to the gas pedal, or electrically.

Here are a couple pictures of throttle bodies. There are one or more round flat blades inside a bore. When they are sideways in the bore, they let very little air through; which makes the engine return to idle

When you press the accelerator pedal, you're rotating the shaft that those blades are on, turning them parallel to the airflow letting more air through. Hence the term, wide open throttle.

The throttle body is the whole casting around which these bores and blades are housed. In the first photo, disregard the blue arrow.

just bought some neon foot pedals for my car, and I got them on to the pedals and everything, but I have no idea how to hook the wires up. The wires go to an on/off switch and then from there, there is an open wire that is supposed to go to a hot +12V source, and a wire that's supposed to go to ground. I have absolutely no idea where to go with these wires. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do, or what other forum I could look on to find out? I don't really know much about cars so I'm quite confused.

you take them out of your car and sell them on ebay because they look silly.

try starting your own thread, you might get more responses.

thanks for the input drdisque, but in no way does that answer my question

maybe you shouldn't post a question in a thread that has nothing to do with the thread, start your own thread then people might care what you have to say

yes I'll remember that, but I figured a section on Engineering/Technical would be a good place to ask a technical question about where to find a hot +12V source, but maybe that's just me

This is a thread about throttle bodies, not a technical forum. Go up one level to the engineering/technical FORUM, not thread. Then post a new thread.
