Corolla lug problems (part 2)

Ok thanks for the input everyone.

Fortunately, I got the lugs out.

Now I have yet another problem.


I went to our friends at Autozone, and said "Hey, I need 2 lugs for the front wheel on a 1995 Toyota Corolla".

So the guy brings out 2 of them, but something didn't look right about them. I told him I thought they looked wrong, but he said it was because the new ones were aftermarket, but would work fine.

So I get them home, and they didn't work. They only had 24 splines instead of 36 splines.
Then I drive back out there, and tell them they gave me the wrong ones.
I didn't get any apologies, but they did find me the right size stud. (supposedly).

I get them back home, and they're not right either. They're too small. (in other words it spins freely in the hub).

I guess you know the saying, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", really applies here.

I didn't count the splines on the 2nd try because after explaining it to the Autozone guys, I'd never dream they'd give me the wrong part twice.

OK now I'm done ranting, but damn,
How can this keep happening? Are their boxes of studs all mixed in together like some bolts are at the hardware store?

You know, like when you reach in to the box labeled 1/4 inch bolts, you pull out some 3/8 instead?

Yes I'm going to complain to them when I go back out there, but you'd think they'd be a little better with things like this.

For cheap/critical stuff, it pays to go to Toyota.

I'd go to a different store I wouldnt go there anymore. maybe another autozone would be ran better than that one is because sometimes the people running an identical store are screwy where the other one is ok to buy from.

If not Autozone, do you have an Advance Auto Parts nearby?

Try them out. They usually have a better inventory than Autozone...
