so sunday i went to the track to see what i'm running, turns out i ran a 16.18 @84 mph, i was pretty happy with that seeing as i didnt put much money into my motor. also, this was run on bald snow tires (like 2/32's left) so i was spinning alot in 1st and 2nd. i'll post up my slips, pics and video when i get my computer back, (damn viruses) but it was a good day. my buddys auto firebird was running 15.7's all day so it was cool to keep up with him most of the time :)

You could get high 15's with that mph, but if it doesent get any faster I wouldent expect any faster times than a high 15.

You suck at driving. :p
You gotta lower your 60s, you should be able to run a 15.8 I would think. What tranny are you using?
Get back there.. Especially if I EVER bring my car out.

Remove tools. Easiest weight loss. Get different tires, pull a 2.2 60 ft and you'll be running 15.7.

You dont need slicks, just learn how to drive your car better thats all.

theres alot of things to add in.
weight, traction, driver skill, motor condition
weight is a big factor with ef's, I see people bragging great times with everyday setups but then their car is an 88 hf gutted to hell.

I guess it's not bad... you just need better tires. Do you dump the clutch or slip it?

slipped it to the point where it wanted to go so it was pre-loaded, held the e-brake then dumped it and the e-brake at the same time
but like i said, i'm gonna get my friends slicks and give it a shot with those(assuming he still has them). hopefully i should hook up alot better with those.
and shaolyn, u also need to take into account elevation. that plays a big part on times too, i'm not too sure what the elevation is at Cayuga tho. maybe SiZ knows :)

ok, as promised.. heres the 2 videos and pics from sunday
(my buddy didnt get my video in time and caught me just as i hit 2nd
gear... and he didnt know how to shut the camera off either)
(11 sec built GSR running 25 psi in a 5th gen) this guy hit 5th gear on the track, again he had BIG traction issues.

Evlevation isn't high enough to matter. :p
Seriously man, you just need practice practice practice, you're not going to run your best times the very first time you go out to the track. The lights and the timers there keep you very honest, its nothing like racing or launching on the street..
You just need more time there Derek, you don't need sicks that bad. (you shouldn't)

depending on the size of the slick they might be too much for you?
really just keep practicing, you think you know how to drive your car but practicing at the track you get better, I dropped .7 seconds off my time from just learning how to drive better.

nope :p
seriously though, al you need is more experience at the track (plus a little less baggage in the car) and you should be in the mid 15's eventually. go out on some safe deserted road or somethin and practice your launches. its quite a bit different at the track because of all the rubber on the track, so you can launch at a few hundred higher rpm. but just get a feel for it and keep goin back. your times will get better and better till they become pretty cose and precise to those mid 15's

That makes me want to weep.
With my setup, I've hung with a 13 second vette. (He was out about 1 car off of me through the traps)
You can call BS if you want, but soon the proof will be in the pudding.

sounds about right. when i was running with just a I/H/E only, I was consistently hitting 15.8 or so, 15.6 with my buddy (140lbs or so compared to my 220lbs) driving. after a new clutch and flywheel, chip and CAI, I was able to hit 15.135 on street tires. I'm interested to see how much better you'll get with some good tires.

yeah you're friend doesn't know how to shut off the camcorder huh ;);)
But I agree with everyone else. Get yourself some good tires or slicks and remove as much weight as possible. I'd also say don't do the e-brake thing. If anything just put it in neutral, rev her up, drop her in gear and go. Practice makes perfect, just try different things until you get it right.
