Difference between GM 9 and 10 bolt

Is there any difference? Could i buy a eaton posi unit for the 10 and bolt it on to the 9 bolt? Basically, whatever i get for the 10 bolt could i put it on the 9?

It wont fit. The 10 bolt is 7.5" or 7.625" I think but the 9 bolt is 7.75" and as far as I know theres no aftermarket posi units for them.

the 9 bolt has 9 bolts, and the 10 bolts has 10 bolts.
