Interior Upholstery Question

I own an 89 GMC Sierra. It is in good shape, especially the interior. I need to do a little work to the door panels though. On both my driver side and passenger side doors, there is are two cloth covered panels on either side of the pull strap. How do you remove these panels to recover them with cloth. The cloth is torn and the black plastic underneath is showing through. I am hoping this is something simple I can complete myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
