what does it mean when?

a car pings when ever it starts for the first 15 sec or so even when its warmed up then afterwards, the ping sound is gone and its all normal again except the engine light is on. thanks

Does the pinging sound go away at the same time that the oil pressure light goes off? If so chances are that the oil in the engine is draining back into the block. This is usually due to a cheap or defective oil filter. Try replacing it with a quality filter like a Wix. I don't think much of Fram filters. It's probably more of a light knock than a true ping.

Which engine light? If it's the oil light, well.... Any other light is probably just a coincidence and you have some other problem.
