Ok well im looking at two toyota celicas (1992 each GT) well one of them has a new motor but the clutch is slowly going out. but it only has now the odometer says 140,00 miles but the guy said he puit a new motor so id give it about say 30,000 miles maybe but im really not sure now on the other hand the other 1 has 180,000 miles but it runs great clutch is good and all so what should i go with? they both want $1000.

find out how much for a new clutch. Maybe $400 to get it replaced. And if the motor has 30K on it and the chassie 140K I think I would pay to get a new clutch. I think it would save you more money down the road if the car with the newer motor is actually a good motor. If it's crap then of course just get the one that is running good. But less miles overall and newer motor, if the clutch is the only thing wrong then I'd go for that.

I`d go fof the second one, I personnaly always prefer to go with the untampered, origional as possible car, you never know what prolems heve cropped up from the engine change, its a bit odd for a clutch to be going after only 30,000 miles, if he didnt replace the clutch when he changed the engine over, who knows what else he `didnt` do.!!!
