i heard this car gets most of its power at 6000 rpms. how is i up until then? from 6-8000, only 2k rpms, that dosnt seem like much time for power. ive never driven this car but am looking to buy one and just wonder how they drive.,

i guess i should be more precise in my question. im looking for a street car. ill never go to the track, and i just like to drive hard in the street and throw the car around. what attracted me to the celica was that it is a small car, supposed to have a good suspension, and onyl weighs 2500 pounds. i loved my 2300 lb sentra and it only had 110 horsepower, so i thought the celica would be a step up. as the for the differences between the GT and GT-s, do you only get that extra 40 horsepower when you hit lift? also, does anyone know where i can get dyno sheets for these cars? i imagine its going to be hard to stay above 6000 rpms in the street, so ill need the car to make soem decent power a little below that. anyone who has street driving experience with this car please tell me. once again, i dont care about light to light racing, but more racing home and taking runs hard.

I assume you are talking about the GT-S. Yes, the power doesn't come until 6200rpms. Before that.. it's pretty slow. You only have 2200rpms to work with, but that's what the 6-speed tranny is for.

Check this dyno for reference.

well how does that car fare as a street car? the dyno sheet makes it look real bad, but i imagine me sentra didnt get its full 110 hp at very low rpm's. what does this cars lack of torque translate to when you are actually driving it?

I would recommend test driving one. It's not super slow when you're not in lift. I mean I can beat my friend in his intake/exhaust '91 Celica GT shifting at 6,000 rpms (not going into lift).
