Best Oil Filter

Okay, I know this has been discussed before but my question is semi different. I know the stock Mitsubishi oil filter is probably best but because I don't have a cap to fit it, it's a pain taking it off, especially with my luck. WIX I hear is also very good but I am reluctant to travel 30 miles just to buy a filter for an oil change. So aside from those two, what other brands out there are good that you guys use? Based on the oil filter study that Vert posted, I'm kinda leaning towards BOSCH since I think that my cap will fit the BOSCH filter. Anyone have any experience with it? How about other brands?

-Oh yeah, and I now know that Fram sucks! :)

you can also buy the K&N from IPO

but the best is the stock filter for our cars

as far as removing the filter, i went to walmart and bought an oil filter remover that fits 7 different size oil filters and connects to a 3/8" drive ratchet. Removing the filter is a piece of cake.

7 different sizes? That's pretty sweet! Hehe Could you post a picture of it? I tried going to walmart.com to find it but no luck. Musashi posted a pair of pliers for me awhile back but it just seems like my car would have to be jacked pretty high to use it and I get kinda lazy so I usually don't like jacking my car up too much. But yeah, if I could get the removing of the oil filter issue resolved, Mitsubishi filter it is!

I used to have one of these and it sucked big time, so I threw it on the roof of my college house and havn't seen it since.

Then I got one from Sears that is similar in design, but it had a heavy duty rubber loop that was fully adjustible. It hasn't failed me yet.

As far as which filter, check these out:

Check out those 2 oil filter study links I posted. They show some of Fram's oil filters are very cheaply constructed...some are ok, but some suck.

i'll see if i can get a picture up or something. Its round with ridges on the inside, and has a square hole right in the middle so you can hook a ratchet to it. The color of it is orange. Try actually going to walmart instead of walmart.com, walmart.com doesnt have much for the auto department.

We actually don't have a Wal-Mart nearby my house. Yeah, super weird but that's the case.... Back at school there were 2 super close together but up here, I honestly don't know where the closes one is. I'll probably go to AutoZone or Kragen to see if I could find some type of plier like Musashi's. The only thing is that the last time I saw them, they looked all plasticy and cheap. We'll see....

just go buy one of the "wrenches" that has a rubber strap. They work great, and you can use it for way more than just oil filters.

I have one of those and I actually think they're no good. It has no grip whenever I'm trying to turn the filter.

clean the rubber, and wipe the oil off the filter. Mine works great on every car Ive ever tried it on.

Make sure it is rubber and not plasticy stuff. The one that sucked for me had no grip..the other was pure rubber and worked alot better

Okay, I was at Kragen and saw this and was about to get it but the guy was like it's no good because the handle is too long and you can't get it in there to turn. I could see where he's coming from so I ended up not getting it:

I also went to AutoZone and found something that had the chain part like this thing:

Do you guys know if it's any good? I know that this is becoming a drag but I just want something that works!!!
