i was in an accident a month ago and the right front of my car. was hit pretty hard. i have had all body work finished and looks preet decent. in fixing the body work on car i was told by shop my car was now leaking transmission fluid pretty bad. so i took car to chevy cady dealer and told them about problem. they said it wasn't tranny fluid it was motor oil. and to fix would be very expensive.it is leaking something left front of car. any ideas??? and i have another problem now. i had dealer change brakes, rotors, plugs and wires, fuel filter and pcv valve.basic tune-up. anyhow when i was driving my car home my car would stall and shut off completely. when driving down road. so took to advance auto hooked up to computer and was told mass air flow sensor needs replaced. car is a 1998 with 113,000 miles on it. would a bad mass air flow sensor cause car to stall and shut off when driving at 55mph????

If I remember correctly, some pretty good indication something could be wrong with the mass air sensor are 1)generally running rough during acceleration and can be rough starting 2)reduced gas mileage, and 3) possible hard shifting of the transmission. Although, running rough and hard starting can be many other things too. Did you notice any of these things? I wouldn't think the MAF sensor would shut the car down, but it is definately possible.
As far as your leak. You'll have to trace where it comes from. Something can end up at the front left of the car when it leaks from somewhere else. What color is the fluid? Can you check all your fluids and see which one is low? Also, its very possibe you have an engine oil leak because many of these cars do. Mine has a small one I think, but it isn't enough for me to worry about.
When you said your car stalled and shut off completely, did the engine just stop/stall or did you lose total power/electricity to the car(inside guages/radio)? Do you hear any weird suction sounds coming from the engine bay. One time when I changed my own PCV valve, the tubing to it was brittle and broke and it made a suction noise.
Anyways...best of luck.

i installed a new mass air flow sensor and disconnected the battery to clear codes. and now car runs 100 % better. it was stalling completely and shutting off. i would lose power steering and brakes. problem fixed unbelievable!!! as far as leaking fluid still can't figure it out. i put synthetic oil in last change. and now problem seemed to get worse.

since the body shop guy said it was your transmission, and the dealer said motor oil....maybe it is the seal between the motor and transmission? It's the common place to leak.

oops, hit send too soon. I would recomment getting your hose and maybe some engine cleaner and spraying underneath your car to clean it up. Then, depending on how fast the leak it, periodically check to see where the fluid starts to come from.

If yours is like mine you have a head gasket oil leak. Take your dipstick and stick it into the valley under the intake manifold. There is a "mousehole" where a ground cable passes under the intake manifold cover. Stick the dipstick thru it aiming down toward the center of the valley between cylinder banks. You will probably find the valley full which is above the plastic end of the dipstick. This valley fills up at the front of the engine, overflows a dam at mid valley. The aft end of the valley (which happens to be where the starter is located) has a drain hole under the starter where the oil then flows into the flywheel housing where it then drains out the bottom, looking like a rear main leak. My oil pan leaks badly too. I have degreased the engine bottom, started the engine and watched it run out in a steady stream at the front.
