I am not an expert on exhaust systems, so forgive me if the extent of my knowledge sucks donkey balls, but I just got a price quote for a custom job. 230$+tax for 2 1/4" stainless steel cat, Magna Flow muffler, and slash cut double wall tip. Still not sure whether to go stainless or chrome on the tip, or does it really make a difference in looks? Is this a pretty good deal and what other questions or details should I ask about or look into?

what would the exhaust be made out of? you said SS cat, but what about the piping?
you need to figure out what kind of bends it will have. mandrel bends are the best, crush bends are a lot easier and more common with custom jobs, but can hold back some power. mandrel benders cost hundreds of thousaands of dollars.
thats an ok price, but im willing to bet they will be crush bends,

The piping is SS as well. And I will ask about the bend type. I am not looking to get top of the line cuz my budget wont afford it right now, so unless crush bends usually have problems with them, I'll worry about higher quality bends when I upgrade to bigger pipes later down the road.

V6 or I4? Are you ever planning on Forced Induction? Even if you plan on staying NA, I'd say go for 2.5in piping, it will be a little more expensive, but it will be worth it.

I4, and for now, my plan doesnt include forced induction. Unless I come across a better job offer or rob a bank. Neither one happening soon, lol, and that is why I was thinking 2 1/4 for now. I was under the impression that anything over that was not really worth the added cost unless major improvements to the intake/ignition are under the hood. If I am wrong tell me so I dont go spitting b/s info.

2.25 is perfect for the 2.0 liter engine.
im actually suprised the piping is SS. thats a good price. its usually around 200-250 for mild steel and crush bends.

Ok, I lied. The first guy I talked to told me SS cat...I called again to confirm my 10am appointment tomorrow morning, and I asked about the bends and such. He told me they will be using Aluminized Steel and I cant remember what the name of the bend is, but its neither Crush nor Mandrel. Its better than crush from what he says. Is the Aluminized quality material? Cuz if so, 236.00$ (tax included) for the whole shibang is well worth it to me.

well the less amount of bends (of any kind) is better for the exhaust... cause if they go over, youll have more bends... if you go under youll have less, but have less room underneath you car
