Just trying to tone up....

Well...about 6 months ago I stopped lifting. I was beginning to build mass and was pretty cut. Now all that has turned into flab. I am beginning to lift again and im in a rush to get that shape back. I really just want to tone up right now.

My max bench press is about 140...Would it be okfor me if I benched 80lbs about 30-50 times (1 set=10 reps) and not hurt myself? I dont want to hurt my muscles so they dont heal right but it isn't alot of weight.

I also am doing alot of crunches and ab exercises everyday, and as far as i know, that is safe.

Dont forget the cardio...Im 99% sure that is safe everyday and i try to mix it up what i do each day.

Any tips on how to get tone fast?...Ill worry about building mass later, I just want the chest and abs back.

Yes, as Oz said, you can search to find your answer here.

Generally, higher reps with lower weight will give tone with less bulk.

Ab work daily is cool.

Cardio daily isn't bad, but give yourself rest when you need it.

Dont worry about hurting your muscles, every time you work out you destroy your muscles so they can rebuild, they have the technology...

The ab muscles are pretty tough boogers, but like any muscle they need a little time to heal after a good workout, doing them every day probably wont hurt them but just like what right said fred said with the cardio, give yourself a break if you need it, muscles dont grow/tone in the gym, they do that outside the gym.

High rep/low weight will not tone your muscles, it will make them tired. "Tone" comes from increase in muscle mass and a decrease in fat. Both of these are acheived through low rep high weight workouts. Google is your friend!

Low weight high reps does work to tone muscles. Bulking up and having little body fat will make you big, but not well defined.

Low body fat is what makes you defined. When you have no fat over your muscles, you can see them better.

Well for those of us with more than 1% body fat, it helps them become more defined within the current ammount of body fat.

....and muscle doesn't magically turn into flab.

Lol, I know. You can still see muscles if you have more than 1% bodyfat. You can't "define" muscles, though. You look more defined by increasing muscle mass and lowering your body fat. High reps low weight is endurance training. You won't gain any muscle.
