Heating/Coolant Problem

alright, so after adding some more coolant to the motor (now at 1 gallon of water, 1 gallon on antifreeze) i think that there is a problem.

we'll start back at last week. just put a rebuilt motor in it and drove it for about 100 miles. ran perfect. i let my buddie test drive it because he might buy it and all of a sudden steam starts coming out from under the hood. i tell him to bring it back because something is wrong with it and after i drop him off i head home as i watch the temp rise. the next day i brought it to the school to pressure check for leaks, nothing. i brought it home for lunch which is 1 mile away and by the time i got home, the temp was above normal temp. and rising.

fast forward to today.

i had the car running with the heat on to get out all the bubbles and shit while i'm filling it up with coolant. all of a sudden the belt starts squealing really loudly. so i get in the car expecting it to be hot as shit after letting it run a little bit and the car up to normal operating temperature, but the air is the same as outside temp!! i shut the car off because of the squealing and start it up again. the squealing has quit but soon comes back after idling for about 3-5 minutes. so i shut the car off again and go look under the hood to see if i'm majorly leaking antifreeze somewhere but there's nothing. then a bubbling noise starts in the thermostat housing (kinda cool, like a water-bong) as i watch the fluid in the resivor go wayyy up and then it quits bubbling and the fluid goes back down. it pushed it into the resivor, and then pulled it back out. WTF!! anyone?

Maybe your termostat is stuck closed, take it out and test it but putting it in boiling water. If it stays closed that is your problem. Otherwise it might be your water pump.
