Big Clumsy Hands

So I decided to change the PVC Valve out, (seeing as how I don't know the history of the blazer before me) It's estimated to be changed every 30000 miles, and the blazer has 174,000 so anyways, I found out that the hose connected to the PCV valve was broken. So I pulled off the broken end of the PCV, installed a new hose and a new PCV. While I was installing the PCV I stupidly placed the hose on first, before the PCV. Now where the PCV hose goes to, there is this thing that looked like a cap. I was tugging on the Hose trying to remove it, to place the PCV valve first, before placing the hose on this cap, and I pulled too hard and broke the cap. Does anyone know what this part is and what it's called, so I can go to Autozone and replace it. I messed up, but I don't want to run the engine with this cap broken. I placed it on there, but It's not going to hold up by itself.

I would clarify it, IF I knew what the hell I was talking about to begin with. There is a cap looking thing that connects to the engine, that connects to the PCV valve. It's connected to a hose and the PCV on one side, and the other side leads to this CAP looking thing that connects to the engine. I don't know what it is. Or what it's called.

Maybe the "cap looking thing" is the bottom half of your old PCV valve. If so, Use needle nose pliers to pull it out.

My bad, I meant, I pulled off the broken piece of the HOSE that is connected to the pcv valve. It's not part of the PCV.

OK moderators and experts, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this thread really make it obvious the reason technicians, mechanics, service guys, etc, even exists? I really wish I could offer this dude a little help with something so small, but it would help me (and I imagine many others) if this picture was zoomed out just a little bit, and maybe a little closer to the problem he is refering to.

Here's a little advice I suppose I can offer. With the PCV valve pulled out, or the hose disconnected, or what ever I imagine simple case may be, you should still be able to put the key in, crank it, and drive to the nearest "Twighlight Zone" or whatever parts place around you. Don't worry, even 15 to 20 miles away, you will (or should) make it. Your car won't explode or nothing. Wish I could be of more help, but first you must be of more help clarifying the issue (and picture)

First Off, I was talking about what's connected to the PCV valve. The picture CLEARLY Shows the PCV valve. Second Off, I found what out the name of what it was. All I asked for was for the name of the part. I have been driving the car around like that, because I KNOW it's not going to mess anything up. I just broke something and wanted to replace it. I thought the whole Idea for this thread was for people to post problems and someone could help fix them. Not to insult other forum posters by saying how "mechanically Challenged" they are. I am not a mechanic, nor do I try to be one. But if I can fix certain things without getting ripped a new hole at the dealer or at the mechanic, I will try to fix it myself. People do like fix stuff for themselves, even if they don't know what they are doing. Hence why people pop pain killers for a headache. are you a doctor? no!, then why are you prescribing medicine for yourself.

I have not caused any problems in this forum, and I feel most of my posts have come to either ask a question, or help in solving someone else's question. I know there are people on these forums who really want to help people like BlazerLT, and he even gets sh*T from people (YES I READ THE AUTO-RX POST!) Now, if you don't want to answer my question, don't. Go ahead and not answer, but don't insult me for asking a question on a forum about something I don't know. Cuz if I knew the answer, I wouldn't be asking it!

Everyone has an opinion, but when your opinion is to insult someone who is asking for help, on a forum that is meant to help, it's just stupid. I mean, when you walk into a hospital, do you hear the doctors tell you how stupid you are? I don't think so.

I am not planning on leaving this forum just because some guy is going around insulting other people's questions on a help forum, instead of just helping them. You waste more energy trying to prove your point than to actually help the person. I mean, if I don't know WTF someone is talking about, I will just not post nothing. Now, if I know what a person is talking about, and I can help them, I will. Helping people is a good feeling on this forum. :2cents:

Right on dude! My sentiments exactly. If I can't offer a positive response or if the problem is over my head, I JUST DON'T REPLY! I think that is pretty good advice for all of the users on this forum. If you can't contribute and help to solve a problem, then don't reply just to see your response on the internet. We've seen some pretty wierd things that people have done to their vehicles on this Forum and some of them are out right stupid, but if you can't help, then don't reply.
