A.C. problems

Major problems with the A.C. someone please help. I am moving to Arizona in two weeks and I have got to get this figured out. My 96 Blazer, will not blow cold air and has now started to make a horrible noise. When I checked it out under the hood it sounded like the rubbing-sqeaking noise is coming from the a.c compressor. Does this sound like my a.c. compressor seized up or something else. I also added frion last year when I bought it and it was cold so i will check to make sure I don't have a vacuam leak, but I don't think that it will cause that horrible noise, any help would be grateful, thanks.

start the car and turn on the air conditioner, now check to see if the belt is actually spinning the compressor, if it isn't then your air seized on you.

Also, you have to add oil with the refrigerant.

If not, your compressor will seize up.

The AC system fluid is comprised of refrigerant and oil.

I thought that the oil and the refrigerent where the same, or is that what you are trying to say is that I just need to add some, so that the compressor will be oiled.

No, they are not the same.

You have to use a mixture of the two.

The compressor is lubricated by the oil which is carried along by the refrigerant.

If you compressor is making noise, the oil may help, but it is probably to far gone by now.

3-4oz should help.

You need to add R134A and not Frion-and one can of ester oil

No, you add the appropriate mixture of oil for the R134A used.
