Rip Offs

I lent a friend a couple hun. He is a slick player. Smooth as can be. But really angry. He is an old rip pig (oil rig worker), so he claims. I can't be sure of the things he told me anymore. So I went into business with him, I was the money man, bought the equipment. He claimed to know how to roof shingles. But our first job, he was slow, did a 40 bundle house in 2 days. The lines were crooked. Second house the shingles were really bad. So I bought the gear, and got a few jobs. We were suppose to split it 60/40 in my favor. So we do a few jobs, sub-contract work. We get a few checks for work done. And he proceeds to do a 50/50 split. This was after I gave him money. I was expecting him to give me the entire check. For him to start paying me off. Anyway, we did a few small jobs, and did a few large jobs. I ended up walking away from the job site after the day was done. The house was 1/4 done. Didnt tear off enitre roof, but tore off as needed. So house was somewhat water proofed. But when I met this guy. This dude used to drive, but claimed his truck got stolen. It had onstar. He said it wasnt activated, I said they can still locate it. Then I said dont you have theft. he said the insurance company messed up his paper work, I said thats highly unlikely then he said I dont believe in that type of insurance. BS. Anyway, I came to the conclusion that it was either an oil companies truck that they wanted back (highly unlikely), because he got fired. Or that he scammed his way into the truck being financed. It was probably a $40k truck. I now know his truck got repo'd (looking back on it now). So I ended up driving him everywhere. Buying him smokes. He seemed alright. I got suckered in big time. I gave him money because he said he needed to buy gear to go back out to the rigs. In talking about this with other people, in the field. I now know that oil companies will give you all the equipment needed, and take it off your first income check. This guy has ripped off many people. He takes advantage of them. At first he was asking for a grand, but I ended up giving him a few hundred dolla bills. He then asked if he could use my truck to get out to the rigs, he pressured that upon me big time. Then I rented a truck for awhile, took it offroad. The transmission started to slip. He made me think it was my fault, that I will have to pay for it.

It is funny how god works in your life.

So he told me to give him the truck, and claim it as stolen to the rental company. We had our plan, and about to execute it. We were trying to find a place to do it. When all of a sudden the brand new 2004 Ford F150 supercrew just dies. It spuddered to a halt. Due to offroading earlier. The rental company got a tow truck to tow us a brand new 2004 Avalanche Z71 with only 500 miles on it, and tow the crap ford away. Looking back on it now, god was looking out for me. I was blinded by his actions and words. Looking back on the man now. He is absolute scum. I see him around every now and then. Its been about 1 or 2 years. He is still angry at the world. He told me he just bought a new $40k truck, and got his fiance a $8k car. But I see him getting rides from other people. What a liar. He will never learn his lesson.

I still think about tracking down where he lives, find out what he is driving, and causing $500 worth of damage. But I have not done it. I dont want to stoooop down to his level. A windsheild on a new truck and a bat to body panels is easily worth more then 500. But he aint driving so a broken window at his house or something.

Damn. I wouldn't count on getting your $$ back...

only doing $500 in damage...after everything he's done to you? i say grab the lighter fluid and a few matches and have a good old bonfire. i'll bring the s'mores!
