Electrical and shifting 1999 Wrangler

I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler Sport 4.0 Automatic. I've only had it for about two months now and I had the power steering seals replaced and had the plug removed and washed and replaced for electrical problems in the dash. The plug cleaning helped for all of three weeks. Now it seems that it's doing it again. My speedometer and rpm gauges die on me while I'm driving and then pop back on again eventually. But now, the new problem is that when I'm driving down the road and it's going between 15-20mph it tries to shift and it has a hard time. It feels like it's pulling back and slowing down. It eventually goes into the next gear but it freaks me out. It doesn't do it all the time just once in awhile. It also seems (I can't be positive that it's like this every time) that when the RPM and Speedometer are dead to the world is when it has the hard time shifting, once it finally shifts the electrical stuff all comes back to me........then dies again shortly afterwards. Any suggestions on what this might be??????

Try a quick fix, and sell it.

Getting rid of my Jeep is not an option. I love my Jeep!!!

Before we were married my wife had a 99 with the same problem in the dash, they never did find out what the problem was; I thought it was a loose connection in the dash somewhere, as the cruise still worked when the guages died.

Automatic transmission shifts due to internal pressure and speed and how much gas you are giving it. I bet at the speed where you notice it, it is just before where a normal shift would occur. I've had several automatics, all did this at a certain speed. Try hitting the gas a bit more then letting off, that should cause a shift. It may jerk slightly until you get the right amount of gas.
