I just got my spec v a week and 1/2 ago. Today I heard for the first time someone start and drive it with me watching and I heard this loud whinning sound when it was idling. It got quiter when they gave it some gas... its sounds electronic, I think its my altenater. Just wondering if anyone has heard this also... or do I need to get it checked out? Still love the car though.
Also.. what mods besides aem (got it on order) does anyone suggest? Should I wait for Nismo?

Could be the belts are not broken in yet. Give it a few more miles and see if it goes away.

That sucks about the tire. I think the sound is startin to go away, but i wouldnt know right now cause i just wrecked mine. No body damage, but i messed up 3 wheels and my control arm is broke on left side so the front left wheel is kinda just on its own program, but it will be fixed in a week... thank god. Im startin to go thru withdrawls.... need car... must get it back......i promise to never hurt her again :(

When you turn on the key, but don't start the engine, listen with your door open. If you hear the noise, and it stops after about a second, the answer is: your fuel pump priming the injection system. It seems that the pumps on our cars are quite loud.

Hey guys(Girls, what ever), I'm brand new. This is my first post so Hello to every one. About this whinning business, I am having some whine of my own. Not at an idle tho. Mine sounds like it's coming from the trainie. If I'm excelerating or coasting... Nothing. If I am trying to maintain any given speed... Whine! Sucks! I haven't been down to the dealership yet due to the fact that I'm a lazy asss but as soon as I do I'll be posting the results of the visit. By the way, have any of you had anything like it?
