I am looking to purchase an 1989 jeep cherokee and it has a clutch problem. I need to know what tranny is stock in those and if you have to drop the tranny to work on the clutch. If anyone can help that would be great.

Yep tranny will need to be dropped. and if its a stock tranny it will no doubt be the Peugot 5 spd. (not the best tranny out there... and REALLY expencive to rebuild).
