I'll try this one more time, folks. :p

For good diagrams and diagnosis, and general information, I recommend that you all register for this free site. As several of you already know, I have been servletting this site extensively to assist those of you with problems. They also have an excellent parts-guide area, to at least let you price out repair parts.

www.autozone.com

It behooves new folks to arm themselves with immediate available knowledge for their issues, and this is one of the best sites I know of.

There certainly may be other good free sources, and I sure hope that others chime in with other links.

Knowing what you are dealing with, better allows forum members to provide their "hands-on" tricks and experience to further walk ya through your repair or diagnosis.

That saves time for everyone, and allows a quick resolve of the issue at hand. One other thing, plz plz plz list your year, engine and model at the beginning of your post, that is of immeasurable help to us, and I really ty for that giving that info. at the start. Give us the options, such as a Sport suspension, packages that may apply to your issues, [like lighting groups, HD cooling packages, ]etc.

If ya don't know them, cool, but have your VIN ready, we can chase options down from that.

TY for your reading of this post.

Regards

Knifeblade,

I agree with everything that you have said in your post. As Rodenour stated in one of his latest responses, the site that you have found (Autozone site) is loaded with information, He continues with the fact that he has been seeing that link in just about every other post. It seems that with every other post you are putting up that link.
I have to agree with him. Who has given you the job of "Keeper of the Autozone link" it is great that you have found it and it does offer a great deal of information. But from my understanding the forum's purpose is to help people with information in the way of little tricks and shortcuts, I don't think that the forum is here for people to list out a step by step proceedure for major repairs.

Again, I agree with you...if people would do a little research first and then list the results on their threads, it would be a lot easier for us to help them with their problems Via the experiences that we have encountered.

Please dont get me wrong, As you can see from my last few post (especially in the "Off Topic Thread"), I enjoy helping people out with their Grand Am problems, But there have been several threads that I have not responded to only because I did not want to sit infront of the computer and retype a page from my Haynes manual.

If someone has read the Haynes/Chilton manual for a particular repair and then has a question I would by more than happy to share my experience with that particular problem.

Another, problem is as you have also stated is the fact that when posting a new thread everyone should list out the following info. about their car:
1.the year of the car.
2.the engine size.
3.the milage on the car.
4.any other helpfull information regarding the issue,
IE: listing the fact that the car has new plugs and wires if we are working on a hesitation issue.

PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE!!

Please do not misunderstand the content of my post, I truly enjoy helping people out, but I am not a mechanic, I can not tell you how to remove your engine and put a bigger one in, but I can help you with many problems that I have also encountered.

Thank You.

Ayep, the whole idea is for folks to look a site over such as autozone or some other GA threads pertaining to their prob.], go oh okay, and then have some question to ask that helps zero in on the prob.

The only problem i have with Autozone is don't trust them when reading computer codes. Make them look them up in the book not the computer. The computer is wrong on a bunch of them like P1651 The computer says its the Power Steering Pressure Switch (FORD Code not pontiac) It should be Fan 1 Relay Circuit. So Make them use a Book. I also find if you have mechanic you trust they will print you off the diagrams from alldata The same ones the dealer uses not a redrawn one.

Is Autozone giving you money for promoting thier web site? I think you have posted the web site enough. I think its great for you to post the site but it gets tiring hearing the same old thing being repeated.

If you want when a user posts a problem go ahead and link to a page that helps. But please refrain from openly promoting Autozone.

I do agree with you on the topic starters giving as much info as possible. The more info given the easier it is to help out.

No, Jon, I am not being paid to promote that site, I simply have found it to be very helpful to me and to others as a free and informative resource. My purpose was to share the resource with others, so that any member with an issue might be better able to pose their questions for a more accurate and timely response.

For example, someone with a specific problem who first scans the site I mentioned, might be able to solve their problem in the timely manner they may need to resolve their issue. If not, then, I presume [and I may be wrong here], the member can then say, "Yo, how do I access the bolt, or how do I remove this, or what tool do I use, etc. etc."

If I seem to be overpromoting a specific resource as a result of attempting to assist fellow members, or to ease their repair needs, I stand guilty. As my post stated, I certainly had also hoped others would chime in with other resources. That was my sole purpose.

And, without meaning to overly debate the subject, this thread opened up all kinds of good links at the bottom of the page for members to surf. since this forum is designed for the various sponsors to advertise in as new threads open up, that is another reason i opened this thread. Check out the ads at bottom of the page, I see www.eAutoRepair.net, digitalprecision.net, www.autorepairmanuals.biz, www.alldatadiy.com, and a few more.

But, as I stated in the opening thread, are they free access to members? They certainly are valuable resources, but some folks need to get their rides running for work, family transport, etc., and may not have the cash to spend on those resources.

do not misunderstand me, I am not in any way disparaging the moderators of this forum, but as a guy who knows how hard it is when the ride goes down, and has to lose a day's pay from work, or arrange other ride so the wife or kids can get to where they need to go, I believe that a free resource, including the forum members [as a free resource] can be invaluable.

some members have to rely on their rides daily-daily to make their living........... well, I made my point, which is a quick help free resource.

I am sorry if that seems to overpromote a certain site, I will refrain from over-promotion ofa certain site.

Regards
