Alright I got a 2003 Auto V6 Mustang. Im wanting to do an engine swap within the next year. I'm thinking of buying a 2003 4.6L DOHC 4V Mach 1 Crate Engine, but have been starting to consider the 2000 4.6L DOHC 4V Cobra engine. I'm wondering what engine would be better for slowly building up over time for 1/4mile times??? Since there so close in power/torque rated 305hp / 320tq to 320hp/317tq. A few people have told me not to do an engine swap just go buy a car with everything done already, but theres no way i can afford buying a newer style cobra/mach1 at the moment. But I prefer the newer bodies over the older styles such as the fox bodies etc. and i definately dont want 96-98 since they were some of the weekest engines for mustangs. so please tell me ur opinion if this would be worth it or not for the engine swap and what engine is better. Much appreciated Thanks A Lot.

96-98 Cobra is what you should get if you think the motor is weak I don't think you have driven one.

im no expert here, this is more of a question than a suggestion, but i rekon a nice 2003 cobra engine with that blower would be alot faster than a normal 4.6. that is what i would research. please correct if this would not work due to PITA, or something else.

what do u mean weaker?
Try seeing if there is a swap meet coming up in your area. just had one here found
05 gt engine = 2500 300 miles
01 corba with tranny = 4000
03 corba plus blower = 5500 new
mach 1 = 3500 new

there was no 2000 cobra, that engine is identical to the 1999 motor, in 99 they had problems where some motors didnt reach all the way up to their rated horsepower, im gonna step out on a limb and say that these motors are ones that had that problem fixed. however there was a 2000 cobra R and the motor in that was sick...

There is a 2000 Cobra engine, those was produced for the 2000 Cobra's that was cancelled. There are some LATE 99 Cobra's that would normally have been consider Y2k Cobra's.
