i have a small leak in the trans. i check the fluid and keep it within the 1/8th of correct level. when i accelerate too the floor going into 2nd or 3rd gear automatically it feals like i go into neutral then into gear. what does this mean? do i need to fix that little leak or anybody have any ideas? i have a B&M shifter and the trans was rebuilt a bit ago. please help!

Sounds like it is slipping. The leak is probably coming from the speedo gear area where the speedo cable hooks up.

when you are checking your fluid are you doing it with the engine running? I know if you check it after it's been sitting is will read way higher on the dipstick. If this is the case your fluid could be too low. If it's recently been rebuilt hopefully its still ok. As for the leak climb under there and wipe everything down, then go for a drive and check it out when you get back to see where its coming from.

thanks guys, yeah i checked it with engine running to make sure the fluid would be at right level, do you think its a bad idea to drive it for a little while like this?

If it's your only vehicle I would keep driving it. I would take it real easy though especially when it's shifting. Do you know if your torque convertor is locking up like it should? With the engine warmed up go a steady speed like 50 in OD and just lightly hold on the brake with your other foot. YOu should hear the engine rev up a couple hundred RPM and then when you let off the brake it should go back down. It will almost sound like it is upshifting. If you can't tell a difference oyur convertor isn't locking up. I noticed if my fluid was low on my 700r4 the TC would lock up good. If your fluid is fine you could have problems with your valve body. Usually after a rebuild there is a lot of crap floating around your tranny and it's not uncommon for rebuilt trannys to have problems for a while after they are just rebuilt. The 2-3 flare up is common on 700r4s but not the 1-2 shift. Also is your TV cable adjusted right?
