Put a jumper wire in the relay panel where the two larger pins of the FP relay (#4 & #6, the two that are perpendicular to each other). You may want to ensure there is power on #6. The FP fuse (#18)should be hot or the fuse box has burned out internally. I have seen this a few times.

If you had 12V+ on the fuel pump relay pin #6 & jumpering it to pin #4 still didn't give you power on fuse #18 then the fuse box is fried.

Do you have the key turned when you are doing this? There won't be power to the pump without the key turned.

I don't believe so, but you can have it on & it won't hurt anything.

I'm having the same problem. I removed/fixed the trans a few months ago though. I just replaced the fuel injectors last weekend, then fired it right up. Drove it around for a while then parked it - came back and had a fight with the alarm system. I hate that thing. I read on here how to disconnect it, so I did. Now it just cranks and no fire in the hole. I pulled up the trunk matting behind the back seat and checked for voltage to the pump. There's 4 wires: red/wht, purple/blk, org/blue, solid org. The only one with voltage was the purple/blk and it only had 4.5v. The relay clicked when the ignition was turned on and fuse 18 isn't blown. WHAT THE CRAP is going on here! I'm gonna try to jump it tonight to see if the battery is dead since it isn't cranking fast anymore, but still - what a stupid car.

I am having a similiar problem (working on a car for a friend) this is the first Volkswagon ive worked on

When I jumper #4 and #6, I can hear the pump come on.. The relay is tested good, and when I turn the ignition on, 12V is sent to the FP relay.. I found out that the FP relay isnt getting a ground.. (the smallest pin on the FP relay right?) In the manual, it shows that the FP relay gets a ground signal from a Digifant computer???

anyone have any ideas?? gettin desprate?
