Sparkplug Wires

I have my set of Taylor 8mm wires installed, and today I went to pull one off and the clip (part that clips on the sparkplug tip) was left on the sparkplug. Now this is the reason I got the new wires the stock one broke exactly like this. I did pull on the boot (not the wire) and used the silicone compound so they would be easy to remove. Obviously that didn't work so is there something else to spray in there so that this doesn't happen again?

What silcone compound did you use? When you're dealing with electronics you are supposed to use dielectric grease. If you used silicone compound that would severely reduce the flow of electricity and cause the clip to stick to the plug pretty well.

Its the silicon that Taylor sent with the wires,
"Silicone
Dielectric-Compound"
I know the stock set of wires I pulled off there wasn't any. So I replaced that set with another stock set of wires (again without the silicone). Then I replaced that set with the Taylor wire set with the silicone. They have all been as hard to get off, they all slide on the sparkplugs fine

well i dont know about silicone cause as far as i know silicone is a very sticky compound and would cause the clip to hang up on the boot...but u may be talkin about something else then what im used to using silicone for. but i know a simple solution would be to buy and spark plug boot puller, it hooks right under the boot itself so that exact thing wont happen.

I have also tried that, all that it did was pull the boot up and along the wire, I had to keep rebending the clip on my last set of wires because I couldn't get the clip out with the sparkplug boot puller. Althought with the boot out of the way it is easier to remove the clip

I dunno, when I did my plugs and wires a couple weeks ago they came off just fine, I don't know what to tell ya.

The clip is gripping too tightly or the terminal wasn't crimped properly on the wire.

Would that still be the case on 3 different sparkplug wire sets?

I wouldn't think so, not on 3 different sets of wires. But sometimes shit happens... Try a different brand.

Possibly...or it could be the angle you are pulling from...also try a different plug in that position.

Which plug is it? Some of them are hard to get at but I wouldn't think that would be that much of a problem that it would make you break stuff.

What Camaro plugs are hard to get to... :lol2:
Yeah its all the plugs except for the middle one on each side, cylinders 3 and 4 are fine

Yeah its all the plugs except for the middle one on each side, cylinders 3 and 4 are fine4 of them? You are putting a side load on the boot/clip when removing them then. Get a spark plug boot puller (Eastwood sells them) and give that a try.

I have a sparkplug wire puller, all that managed to do is pull the rubber boot up along the wire, I lined it up so I would be pull straight out, no sideload

Sometimes this just happens there ain't a whole heck of a lot you can do about it. My buddy was doing his one time and he pulled the damn outer shielding off some of the wire. My question is why did you pull the wire off in the first place? Was the car running poorly or were you just looking for something to do? If it ain't broke don't try to find something to fix, cause you're gonna end up breaking more shit along the way...
