odd idle

after my car has warmed up: at idle the engine always revs up about 200 rpm and back to normal, over and over and over. as soon as its back to normal it goes up 200 and comes right back down and then up again. the battery and alternator are fine, as well as the vacuum hoses. what could be causing this?
