Anyone who knows timing belts replacement?

Many questions below in BOLD TYPE.
To be safe with my just purchased 147,000 mi used Geo Metro,
today I replaced my 1.0 L. '93 Metro's timing belt and tensioner pully
with a NAPA "Timing Component Kit" item number 2521660.
Lord God, the main crankshaft pully rotated while I was putting the
new belt in! And the car was in first gear! I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT
WAS ORIGINALLY !
Anyway - I put the belt on and I rotated the main crankshaft pulley
twice with the plugs out as told to do in the Chilton Manual.
Worked OK - nothing jammed. BUT - the engine would not start!
The Chilton Manual says to align the timing marks (???????)
That's it - nothing else - no diagrams or photos !!! What the Hell
does that mean?
I called a mechnic I know and he said to set the crankshaft pully
timing mark to Top Dead Center and the camshaft pully timing mark to
the notch on the camshaft housing. I did.... It had been off maybe
20 degrees past TDC after it had rotated. Yikes!
The car works now.
FIRST QUESTION....
Did I do it right?! I am worried...... Engine runs!
SECOND QUESTION...
HOW TIGHT SHOULD THE TIMING BELT BE ? Chilton gives no hint.
The new tensioner pully got quite hot and I hear a whoosh-whoosh
sound. It was hard to turn new but after running the engine for
maybe 10 minutes and taking it out, it rotates more easily.
Just needs wearing in...? God - I hope so - $44 each from NAPA.
The tensioner pully has a spring on the tightener lever, but one has
to tighten both the pulley bolt AND the lever bolt down - so what
the heck is the spring there for !!??
THIRD QUESTION.....
SHOULD I RETIME THE ENGINE via a timing light on the crankshaft
pully mark?
FORTH QUESTION....
The NAPA kit and the Chilton Manual both say this 1.0 L. Suzuki
3 cylinder engine is AN INTERFERENCE ENGINE
Two people and somone on this forum say is is A CLEARANCE ENGINE.
WHO IS RIGHT !?

The 1.0L non turbo is not an interference engine so don't worry about that. I set my belt by feel so I set it to where it has about 1/2" deflection on the long side. Just check the ignition timing and drive. You'll be fine.

I have an older timing light that connects to the battery's Pos and Neg
terminals and the third to a spark plug wire.
That should work OK - no? Any plug should work also as each
plug gets power at 5 deg BTDC - yes?
Or should I just use cylinder 1,2 or 3's plug wire?
The Chilton Manual has me jumpering God knows what and I don't
understand all of what it says.

[QUOTE=crazyinkc]The 1.0L non turbo is not an interference engine so don't worry about that.
I have been in arguements with people who say that it is an
interference engine.
Can you tell me where you found out that the non-turbo 1.0 L
engine is a clearance engine - so that I can argue with some
authority?
Thanks for the comment and info!
I changed the Timing Belt and set the timing marks and I'd swear
the car has more power today... But now the beeper in the car
goes nuts until I remove the key - didn't do that before.
Maybe I need to disconnect the battery for ten minutes to erase
error codes on the ECM.
