Jumpy gas pedal?

When I was test driving this 3000GT SL, that I intend to buy, the gas pedal seems kinda sticky. I could rest my foot on it no problem and when I try to gently press it... it doesn't move until I add just a tiny bit more pressure and the pedal "releases" and jumps to about 1/4 throttle. It's fine and all, it's just annoying for easy acceleration (car does the jumpy action. the same thing you see when a person is learning how to drive manual typically)

I know its probably a common car thing but none of my other cars have done it and I didn't want to go messing around with a car that isn't mine. The other 2 3/S's that I have driven don't have this issue so I know it's just something little I'm guessing. Do I need to put some oil on something?

Thanks for your help!

Throttle cable is too tight. It needs loosened just a tad. Mine was sticky till I figured out the cable was too tight,

there is two bolts that holds the cable on the plenum, the cable is right before ur back turbo if your looking from the front. Just loosen the two bolts right there. here is a pic where u can see where the cable is http://www.team3s.com/~egross/3S/Maint/All/Plugs/AcceleratorCable.jpg

Hope i helped, if u have anymore question just pm me.

Good Luck

Mine is about just the opposite. I can press teh gas pedal about 2 inches or so without any throttle response. I just need to get around to checking the throttle cable and, more likely, the pedal itself.

ya what u need to do is just keeping testing and find a perfect point and leave it there!!! but sometimes it gets loose after a while and u may need to try to get it tight up again.
