I have a 94 escort with a 1.9 4 cyl. It runs and starts fine but when you try to accelerate it takes forever. Doesnt matter if you are in gear or just setting in park... But runs good when you get up to speed. Also when you turn on the ac the rpm drops to low.....
Any help will be very much apreciated....

thanks

You may have a bad catalytic converter, if it is partially blocked it could cause you to have problems accelerating. The other item may be a problem with the transmission slipping in the lower gears preventing you from accelerating. Make sure the fluid level in the tranny is correct as that can cause it to slip.

No its not the tranny. this is just setting. and also when put into gear. The trans fluid is clean and full. The exhaust doesnt seam to be restricted... What about the tps.. Could this be it?

Possibly the tps not sending proper signals to the computer. It could also be a bad engine control module causing the problem too. The tps is much cheaper to change than the ecm so start with that.

Seen that problem berfore. It was a bad HEPO, replaced it and worked fine.

Sorry forgot to mention I have a odb 1 code reader and it came up with a pour signal from the sensor.

When you found the hepo sensor bad did your check engine light come on? I have no warning light on.... Where can someone pick up a cheep code reader?

thanks

The check engine light came on once but then went away. Apperantly this happens because the sensor just adjusts the air feul ratio to a massive amount of feul and little air. (This leads to the mpg of a Hummer.) Hence the slow take off.

Also my be bad wires. I bought a sad set from Niehoff wires and they killed my sensor with poor voltage which in turn caused a pour spark. That pour spark was bad for emissions and caused my sensor to work over time and it burnt out.
