i have only had my z for a month now. has 84,000 miles on it timing belt broke. is it a do it yourself job or mechanic havent done much work on new 4 bangers. and ive heard that when the belt breaks alot of times bends valves too. is that true?

Not on the ZX2, it's non-interference. You should be fine.
I need to do mine too, looks like a pain, but with the old Escorts I used to take the upper mount apart and let the motor sag down, and it was not bad. Maybe that'll work on these too. I haven't really looked yet.

looks like id have to take off the balancerto get the second halk off the cover off am i seeing things?

Yeah it all has to come off, down to the sprocket. Do your self a favor and test run it before you put everything back together. Nothing worse than getting all done and finding out you clocked a cam wrong or something. :eek7:
