dreams vs. reality

Dreams seem so real while you're dreaming them,
I have often awoken and looked for the things I have dreamed about if it applies to that dream, or had to think things through to see if something actually happened last night,
So what proof can you guys offer up that this isn't a dream, maybe life is just a long dream in itself, or maybe I was knocked unconcious as a child and I never awoke and I'm still in some kind of coma, or dead...
Just throwing some thoughts around,
Side question: are there any reliable dream interpretation sites out there, I've had some crazy ones?

One thing about a dream is, your never sure if its reality or not. When you wake up, you KNOW you were dreaming and you know your back on solid ground.
I think dreams are a mix of whats going on in your life, or whats missing from the big picture.
No one can tell you how your minds works. You have to figure it out for yourself.
But if your interested... google it and find out.

Dreams are a form of reality, it is reality in your dream which makes it real there. The "real world" isnt real in your dreaming state just as the "dream world" isnt the same in the real world. Dreams just offer you a way to express things that you arent normally able to express in your real life.

Me and some friends use to talk about this kind of stuff coming back from track meets, it's crazy shit, because something will happen and it's like it has happened before and I remember every bit, kinda pisses me off.

Simply put, your brain is chemically and electrically activated. These processes store information, much like a supercomputer, and re-file them as the load decreases [sleep]. The processes then organize the bytes into the appropriate folders, put then into the drive [the brain] and introduce them into the processing unit.
Thusly~~~~~~~ when you sleep, you begin processing the information in a no-load condition. As that information develops and coalesces, you experience the occassional deja-vu, as well as less-understandable information that is being processed. Those are sources of bad dreams, that is being processed in a manner that the information has not yet found it's file for.

I wonder if you could die in your sleep because you died in the dream that you were having, like you could dream of falling of a building, or dream of being held at gunpoint by someone, then you always suddenly wake up just when you was going to die in your dream, but what if you dont wake up? Would your dream become reality.. maybe something like sivic02 was saying, then your dreams come to reality.

Your dream wouldnt become reality, it is its own reality in itself. It would have an impact on this version of reality but would not become part of this reality...I think that makes sense.
Knifeblade it is important to note that what you are saying is just an idea of what causes dreams and is not scientific fact.

The idea about falling to your death in your dream is that if your mind dies (which you believe that it has, by dying in this "reality", so thus it has), then your body cant live without the mind,
But IMO, you wake up when you're killed, because you dont have any knowlage of what comes after that, plus its scary stuff, but no real danger,
And about people who have died in there sleep, the mind compensates in a dream for what is actually going on, (i.e. you hear someone calling your name in your dream, wake and someone is saying your name to wake you) so if you have say a brain anurism, your mind sets up a situation that you will die after a few minutes, but again, this is just my reasoning and all IMO

I have died in dreams before, it was wierd. After that I was looking down on myself I guess as a spirit and could see the things around me. Im still alive today....either that or we all died and are in a spirit world and dont know it...oooooo wierd...

What happened there IMO is that your mind showed you what you believe happens after you die,

sivic, granted some of it is theory, but most of it is medical fact. The theory is from the factual processes that occur within the brain.

Besides, if you die in your sleep, no one will ever know what you are experiencing. Because, crudely put, you are gone.

Have no fear of death, but hark ye to the manner in which that occurs. [Mephistopholes] Later paraphrased by such notables as julius Caesar, patton, Jodl.

er..... so how about if you do actually die in your dream and still wake up?
does that make the waking world heaven/hell?

If you wake up, your singularity is continuing, therefore you haven't died. Or you have entered a plane of existence other singularities cannot experience. Either way, you still around.

Have you ever had a dream where you got yourself into a total shit hole (like killing another person, and going to jail etc.) then you wake up, and feel completely relieved.< Crazy
As for DEja Vu I frequently have them. When I realise I'm having one I recall my deja vu, and try to guess what will happen next based on my memory. SUprisingly though whenever I think about what happens next it NEVER has hapened, and I've done it several times.
As for dying in a dream. I had a dream where I did die, and I was a ghost looking at my family, and It made me cry in my dream to think of never seeing them again. Typically though I just wake up.

Little off topic from the original post but I didnt want to start a new thread regarding this...But I have a big problem called sleep paralysis. Happens more offten then not and its scary. Has anyone else here experienced it? The line between dreaming and reality is very thin when I experience it..

Exactly what it is..I wake up I feel awake but I cant move. I can see, but I am scared at the same time. I try to move so hard but my body is numb..Very frightning...I did some reading cause I had no idea about it. Interesting stuff. I just hope its not harmful..I also wish it would stop cause it gets annoying...I just dont know anyone else who has this problem. My friends where like "ummm ok dude".

It happens to most people at least once or twice during their lives, now it happening often...your just wierd j/k. I dont think it would cause anything bad to happen to you in the long run unless you NEED to wake up because of something like a fire and you just dont. Maybe we can get a psychology person in here to help you out with it.

Yeah, it is obviously in your mind and not a physical disorder,
I think...
I think if I was one of your friends that was like "ummm ok dude" then I would test you theory by slapping you as you wake up,
:slap: :chair:
But thats just to see if you'd try to hit me back and quickly (its a miracle) jump out of bed... Not to be mean if you really were disabilitated
