Ok i have a 1995 Honda Accord LX with an JDM H22A swap with a Euro Tranny. I know my EGR is off, Im in Florida so I just blocked it off, I burna little rich but, dosent create a problem I think. The issue Im having is Its only reving to 5K rpm. When I 1st got it it reved to like 6500 rpm. I know the P13 is chipped but I also know a stock h22 burns out the accord tach! like 8,200 rpm. I have MSD and I was riding today and i decided to hit it. It reved up the vtec kicked in at like 4200 rpm, and the needle JUMPS to 5K rpm and jumps back! 2 dasy b4 I was doing the same and as I got up to 5k not only did it kick back, it shut the car OFF! The engine is running really strong I changed out the cap/rotor/spark plugs/ oil/fuel filter. But I cant figure out why its doing this. Anyone know?????????????????

Most feedback controlled engines won't run right without a reading from the EGR. It shouldn't make it run rich. It's there to cool the combustion under hard load, and prevent formation of NOx emissions. Some motors will tend to detonate without EGR charge under load. If your motor is knock sensor equipped, it may be hearing detonation when you drop down on it, and retarding the timing or cutting back on the throttle to prevent it.

Vtec motor might have other safeguards built into it to protect it, as it involves valve timing changes, I know NOTHING about them, other than basic theory of operation.
