I love rainy days...

Ok alot of you will get a kick out of this. I have a 97 civic ex, and it's automatic. So, you can imagine that it's a rare event when i am able to burn rubber. Well, theres this one stop sign in my town where the road is very smooth, which I spin the best on. Not only was I stopped at this sign, but it had just finished raining and the ground was nice and slick. Usually, when I spin on wet roads, I spin longer but make no noise. Not today. I stopped completely at the stop sign, and preceeded to push the engine (I hold the brake down and slowly put down the gas, gets me up to 3 or 4 RPMs, then I let go of the brake). I started spinning and it squealed and I was like "cool", but then I kept spinning, and spinning, and SQUEALING, and then the front wheels started to swirve the car left and right. I spun my tires all the way through the intersection (a good 5-6 seconds)! I have never gotten more than a 'bark' and this was something I didn't even think I could do in my car. I was so happy, LOL. Just thought I'd share that bit of humor. ;]

The holding the brake thing or "Brake Stand" does not harm anything. I have an automatic and that is how I launch when i race.

Yeah it does, it loads the torque converter unneccessarily.

lol, when I first got my car, I used to do that kind of stuff. as a matter of fact I did something almost exactly the same. Now I look back and think , gee, I bet my (insert one of many parts I've had to have replaced) would have lasted longer if I hadn't done that. Now I just drive regular.
