Car Has Problems Starting (Not Getting Spark)

Pontiac Sunfire 1996
Manual Shift
2.2 Litre

Car only starts occasionally, maybe 1 out of like 20 times that I turn the key. Sometimes when it does start it will die out quickly. The car on occasion dies while driving too, when this happens all the guages drop and the dummy lights come on. When the car won't start it is not getting spark, we have tested this to make sure. The battery is fine, and when it does start it usually runs great, until I try to start it again. The problem started in and seemed confined to cold damp weather, now it has trouble each time I attempt to start it regardless of the weather conditions. Thought the coil pack might be the problem but replacement did not solve the issue. I have been told that it may be the MAP sensor, but I'm totally lost. It has a built in alarm system, but I'm not sure if that would have any thing to do with it either. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

1. Loose connector on you module? Under coil packs
2. Ignition switch going bad? on top of steering column.
3. Loose connector on the ECM or PCM?

Check all of these and you may find your problem.

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am having the same problems with my 1999 Cavalier Z24. It has died while driving and all of the gages bounce around and the lights come on. I didn't have any problems until I moved from Colorado (very dry) to New Jersey (very humid). What was the problem with your car?
