Hello all,
I've got an '04 frontier xe, and want to replace the head unit with an aftermarket cd player (and some other goodies). The dash/consol looks like a real pain to take out, and i can't figure it out. I see two screws under an overhang by the radio, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone have any experieince with the '04's? thanks in advance...

i just did this yesterday... there are two screws under the panel for the ac, temp, ect... once those are removed just use a pair of plastic flathead screwdriver...(or a regular metal one but be sure not to scratch it) and slowly pry off top part a little... this will allow the middle section to be taken off (the part that houses the grear shift knob and such) this part has no screws and is removed easily... then there are two more screws to finish taking off the top panel... comes off easy...
BEWARE!!!... REMOVING THE AIRBAG SWITCH MIGHT CAUSE YOU HAVE YOUR AIRBAG LIGHT TURN ON if you remove the air bag switch and turn the care on... your light will come on... make sure alll switches are connected before turning on ... SO BECAREFUL... SOME DEALERS CHARGE BIG BUCKS TO RESET THIS... THERE ARE WAYS AROUND IT for older frontiers but not newer... good luck
